How to do stuff ...

DIY Cupcake Wrappers:

I have been wanting to learn how to make - DIY - wrappings for my cupcakes soaps & bath bombs but also for these clear plastic cups I think will make really cool containers for body parfaits, scrub bars and whatever else I can put inside.

And so ... I figured it out!

The cup is a pretty generic plastic drinking cup, like you'd see at any gathering with some punch or cocktail in it - got the pkg at Smith's for a couple bucks.  Here's the cup:

It's just 9oz. So how to get a wrapper around this slippery thing has been in my overloaded brain for 4 days - then ta-day aforementioned light bulb moment.

Start with a simple piece of paper to draw the template; you'll mess up till you get it right so don't go to cardstock paper yet.  I used 8.5x11 landscape orientation, put the cup near the left bottome/edge and with a pencil and some coordination (which I'm so not lol) slowly - SLOWLY - rotated the cup with my left hand, thumb and forefinger, whilst at the same time drawing with pencil the pattern of the rim of the cup as it moved across the paper. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it !!

Got the template just how I wanted it, then copied it onto white cardstock, making 2 cuz I just know one of em is gonna get misplaced. Hey honestly, my Mind is cluttered and so is my desk ...

So I placed my neat-oh template on some super neat-oh scratchbook paper backside not the colored side and drew my wrapper.

NOTE: yep I do realize this photo shows the pretty side of the scratchbook paper - not the back side - but as our parents used to say 'do as I say not as I do ..."

Now that the paper wrapper has been cut ....

I smeared with my ever present Mod Podge - not alot cuz you don't want the Mod podging thru to the front of your pretty paper - just enough to cover the edges and squiggly the middle.  If you've never worked with Mod Podge go get some, Wal-Mart, Michael's JoAnn's just about any place with a crafting section will have it. I have used it for oodles of labels stuck on my oodles of containers for soap base, botanicals, herbs, pigments ... you name it I've podged it.  Sorry ... I digressed :D

It will be pretty easy to place your sticky pretty paper wrapper around your cup, and it will adhere almost instantly so make sure you are lined up!  Once stuck, do some pressing to get everything nicely pressed to the cup and then stand back and admire your handiness!!

Ta ~ Da!
